If I was new to the game and wasn't entirely certain about it, I would consider purchasing a used RB. If there are enough of them, it will drive down the price a lot and this could also help to get new people in the game. Also, we may see increasing numbers of used 2nd Edition rulebooks appear on ebay. Hopefully - and I guess that's a big word - one of the byproducts of MMP releasing the reprint of the 2nd Edition rulebook will be that 1st Edition rulebooks should drop in price some. Wall advantage being the first to come to mind. What is not mentioned a lot, is there are only a few key rules concepts that make 1st and 2nd drastically different. I have the Annuals and the Journals plus Action Pack One, heck I already have rule book 2 for the most part But if you can score a 1st Edition for half the cost, consider it that much more cash available for your Beyond Valour module eh. Sure troll eBay for a second Edition copy if you can score it.
Unless you clearly plan to appear at a lot of tourneys and fully expect to be playing VASL on a frequent basis, there is no basis for concern.
In that way we are all essentially on the same page (even if it's a ASLRBv1 copy of the page ). My primary way of playing the game, is I provide the game, and whomever I play enjoys playing the game via my materials.
Doesn't bother me one iota that I might have a few quirks in my game style if I actually got the wonderous thrill of going to a tourney where everyone is aaaaaaabsolutely anal about 2nd edition rules being used (not saying tourneys are anal, that's a worst case scenario example only).īut when you consider my chances of getting to a tourney absolutely suck.
